This is an easy smoked salsa that is full of flavor and has been a family favorite for years. It’s simple to adjust this salsa to any degree of heat that you like by increasing or decreasing the amount of jalapeño.
It has just the right amount of chunkiness to scoop with your favorite tortilla chip, we love adding it to most savory meals. Refrigerate 3-5 days the flavor improves over time.
Easy Smoked Salsa
Ingredients
- 6 Vine Tomatoes Sliced in half
- 3 Jalapeños Sliced in half
- 1 Red Onion Sliced in half
- 3 Cloves Garlic Sliced in half
- 1/2 Cup Cilantro Chopped finely
- 2 tbsp Kosher Salt
- 1 Lime Juiced
- 1 tsp Sugar
Instructions
-
Wash and dry all vegetables. Cut all vegetables in half, and peel garlic. Set your smoker to 450 degrees, I have a Traeger so that is the high setting. Preheat with the lid closed. Once your smoker reaches 450 degrees place Tomatoes, Jalapeño, Red Onion, and Garlic directly on the grill. Close lid and grill for 5 minutes, then lower to smoke, which on my Traeger ranges from 150-180. Let smoke for 1 hour. Remove and add all ingredients to blender. Pulse for 2-3 seconds at a time, shake the blender jar as needed to ensure a thick uniform consistency.
