Smoked Baked Potatoes are always a huge hit at my house! My family loves loading these Smoked Baked Potatoes with just about anything they like. You can also keep it simple with just salt and butter!
I start the smoked baked potatoes by covering them in olive oil and kosher salt. When they’re done they come off the grill with a perfectly crunchy salt crusted skin. Believe me this skin is so good there will be nothing left on your plate!
Smoked Baked Potatoes
Ingredients
- 6 russet potatoes
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- Butter
- cheddar cheese
- bacon
- chives
Instructions
-
Rinse potatoes with water making sure to scrub off any dirt. Dry with paper towel.
-
In a large mixing bowl add potatoes and coat with olive oil and salt.
-
Start your smoker. I use a Traeger so I start on the smoke setting, letting the fire establish for about five minutes. Then set to the high setting and close the lid. Allow the smoker to preheat for about 15 minutes.
-
Place potatoes directly on the grill and smoke potatoes for 35 minutes. Check at 35 minutes by poking with a toothpick making sure the potatoes are soft all the way through. Depending on the size of the potatoes, they may need additional cook time.
-
Once the potatoes are done cooking remove. Cut open and load up with your favorite toppings.
